Peter Buffoni

Peter Buffoni is a seasoned executive search professional with a distinctive cross-sector career spanning the emergency services, military, central government, and sport. As Partner and Practice Lead for Sport and Community Protection at GatenbySanderson, Peter brings a rare blend of analytical rigour, human insight, and strategic foresight to his work.

With over 15 years in executive search, Peter has led CEO and senior leadership executive and non-executive appointments across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, earning a reputation for integrity, deep sector knowledge, and exceptional candidate care.

Peter’s earlier career includes over a decade in national and international policing, senior roles at Sport England, and board-level leadership in a national charity focused on social impact. He ran Sport Sciences for Olympic Canoeing, supported the London 2012 bid team pro bono, and developed commercial strategies that harnessed sport to drive social change. His lived experience as a former basketball player and marathon kayak paddler for the police, adds personal passion to his professional practice.
