Volunteer Opportunity for Public Sector Challenge: Earth, Mynd and Shire, Friday 11th September 2026!
About Earth, Mynd & Shire
The Public Sector flagship event in 2026 is called Earth, Mynd and Shire and will lead us all to the county of Shropshire, in the West Midlands.
As was the case with our Peak Pursuit event in 2025, Earth, Mynd and Shire will offer a variety of routes, which will range in distance from 8.5 miles to 26 miles. (But don’t let a distance fool you! All our routes are challenging and offer significant levels of ascent.)
The landscape of Long Mynd, which is where the routes will take you through, changes as you walk. On higher ground and on a clear day, you will be able to cast your eye over Welsh mountains and valleys.
By contrast, the steep slopes of Carding Mill Valley will give you dramatic scenery, as well as the chance to explore waterfalls and rocky outcrops.
Every route will take you along Pole Bank, which – at 516 meters – is Long Mynd’s highest point.

Start Times:
There will be two start times (7am and 7.30am). You must attend an event briefing before you start, and you must have completed event registration prior to the briefing.
