
Liz Dean is a Principal Consultant within GatenbySanderson’s Not for Profit practice, specialising in health and social care leadership.
With over 20 years’ experience in the UK not-for-profit sector, Liz began her career at Mencap, supporting adults to live fulfilling, independent lives, an experience that strongly shaped her values and purpose. She went on to hold senior director-level roles across health, education, and membership organisations, including at the NSPCC a University and a Venture Philanthropy Fund, leading fundraising, communications, income generation, evaluation, and grant‑giving activity, and helping to raise millions of pounds to support frontline impact. She transitioned into consultancy in 2020, bringing deep sector insight, strong governance understanding, and a clear commitment to values‑led leadership.
At GatenbySanderson, Liz leads executive and non‑executive appointments across health based charities and the wider not for profit sector and is known for her trusted, inclusive, thoughtful and determined approach to search, always focussing on high quality. She works closely with organisations operating in complex and highly regulated environments, has a strong interest in system change, innovation and transformation, and actively champions equity and social impact in all her campaigns. This is further under lined through her strategic leadership of the firm’s CSR Group and the driving force behind the establishment of their Social Impact Board, driving how GatenbySanderson creates genuine impact across all of the communities they serve.
