Interim Elective Improvement Lead | Band 8b/8c | 3-6 Month Contract | Acute NHS Trust | Start ASAP

We are confidentially supporting an Acute NHS Trust seeking to appoint an experienced Interim Elective Improvement Led to lead a newly established programme focused on elective care improvement.

The successful candidate will take the lead on a 12-week improvement sprint, bringing together clinical and operational teams to deliver sustainable improvements in RTT performance, elective recovery, pathway redesign, and service transformation.  This is a highly visible Elective Improvement Lead role requiring a strong on-site presence and close engagement with clinical stakeholders.  However, the trust is open to considering hybrid working arrangements for the right candidate, subject to the needs of the programme and stakeholder requirements.

The initial contract is expected to run for 3-6 months, with potential for extension and/or a permanent appointment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver a 12-week elective improvement sprint across the acute site
  • Work closely with clinicians, operational leaders and improvement teams to drive change
  • Build engagement and alignment around improvement objectives
  • Support the implementation of GIRFT recommendations and elective recovery initiatives
  • Drive RTT performance improvement and reduction of elective backlogs
  • Lead pathway redesign and service improvement programmes
  • Embed sustainable quality improvement methodologies within clinical teams

Experience Required

  • Significant experience working within acute NHS organisations
  • Proven track record of leading service improvement, transformation, or elective recovery programmes
  • Strong understanding of NHS elective care pathways, RTT standards and performance improvement
  • Experience implementing GIRFT recommendations and improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma or the Model for Improvement
  • Ability to engage and influence senior clinicians and multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience of pathway redesign, waiting list improvement or theatre productivity programmes would be advantageous
