Description

Reporting to the Director, you will lead a high-profile portfolio spanning economic growth, inward investment, adult learning, employment and skills, business engagement and strategic partnerships.

You will oversee significant programmes and funding streams, whilst developing strong relationships across government, business, education and sub-regional partners.

The role carries responsibility for budgets of approximately £10m and plays a critical part in shaping the borough's future prosperity.

Key priorities-

  • Driving an ambitious inward investment strategy, raising the authorities profile nationally and internationally and positioning it as a prime destination for business growth and development.
  • Providing leadership for a flagship employment and skills programme as part of a wider southern partnership, creating innovative pathways into work for residents.
  • Overseeing the transformation of the adult learning provision, ensuring the service meets the needs of current and future residents and businesses.
  • Maximising external funding opportunities, securing grants and investment, and building strong relationships with businesses, investors and key stakeholders.
  • Supporting strategic growth opportunities linked to major regional infrastructure developments and wider economic growth initiatives.

Description

We are looking for a strategic and commercially minded leader with a strong track record in economic development, regeneration, employment, skills or growth.

You will bring:

  • Significant senior leadership experience within local government, the public sector or a similarly complex environment.
  • A strong understanding of economic growth, inward investment, employment and skills agendas.
  • Experience of working effectively across organisational and sector boundaries to deliver outcomes.
  • A proven ability to secure investment, attract funding and develop productive partnerships.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience leading complex programmes and managing significant budgets.
