We are supporting a local authority to appoint an experienced Interim Director of IT and Digital to provide strategic leadership across digital, technology and organisational resilience functions.

Contract Length:

6- 9 months

Essential duties

As a key Director in the senior leadership team, you will operate as a key member, shaping and delivering the organisation’s digital ambition while ensuring robust resilience, information governance and emergency planning arrangements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development and delivery of an ambitious, forward-thinking Digital and IT strategy aligned to corporate objectives 
  • Ensuring the provision of high-quality, customer-focused and value-for-money ICT services
  • Acting as the organisation’s Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO), overseeing information governance, data protection and cyber security 
  • Maintaining strong cyber resilience with effective controls to mitigate emerging threats
  • Leading emergency planning, business continuity and wider organisational resilience arrangements
  • Driving initiatives to reduce digital exclusion and enhance digital capability across communities and the workforce
  • Contributing corporately to transformation, financial sustainability and organisational performance

Experience required

You will be a highly credible senior leader with significant experience operating at Director level (or equivalent) within complex organisations. Ideally within Local Government. Who is able to start the assignment no later than July

You will bring:

  • A strong track record of leading Digital and IT services, strategy and transformation at scale 
  • Deep understanding of information governance, cyber security and risk management frameworks 
  • Experience of leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering high-performing, customer-focused services 
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, with experience managing substantial budgets 
  • The ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders, including elected members, and translate complex information into clear, actionable insight
