Edinburgh Business School is part of the School of Social Sciences and is one of five academic schools at Heriot-Watt University. The School has a strong presence in the University’s international campuses in Edinburgh, Dubai and Malaysia and comprises of seven academic disciplines: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management and Law, Operations Management and Logistics, and Strategy and Enterprises.

We are now seeking to appoint a Professor/Associate Professor in Finance with specific research interest in Net-Zero, Sustainability and Green Finance. You will join the School as Head of the Finance subject group, providing academic and operational leadership to build a world-class academic unit. The School has significant growth plans in place, with ambitions to become one of the top 50 Business Schools internationally by 2030 and is investing significantly in academic talent to achieve this.

As Head of Finance, you will help shape the subject group, developing new programmes and further developing the research and scholarship strategy. You will also contribute to multidisciplinary research programmes in low-carbon energy, net-zero, sustainability and circular economy through contemporary sustainability, carbon, and green finance perspectives.

We welcome applications from candidates at Professor or Associate Professor level. This is an exciting opportunity to move into a leadership role within a highly collaborative and supportive School, on an upward trajectory. This role could also provide the opportunity for candidates at Associate Professor level to move into their first Professorial role.

The ideal candidate will have a desire to mentor and develop more junior members of the team, good communication skills and a strong or growing research track record.
