“Delivering great care, achieving great outcomes - together”

Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT) is an exceptional organisation.  Recently rated Outstanding by CQC we are a Trust with big ambitions, underpinned by strong values and a clear vision.  We are immensely proud of our achievements to date and our position as a leading integrated healthcare provider; but we know that in this ever evolving, increasingly demanding era of healthcare provision  we must continue to strive for improvement in order to best serve the 400,000 people with mental ill health, physical ill health and learning disabilities who access our services.

We employ circa 3,000 staff who deliver care within the community and through inpatient settings across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Norfolk and North Essex.  We also operate several nationally commissioned specialist services.  With 77% of our staff recommending the Trust as a place to work and receive treatment, we are proud to be the highest scoring mental health trust nationally for ‘motivation at work’.  We recognise that our vision for Great Care and Great Outcomes can only ever be delivered by Great People and that retaining a motivated, engaged and accountable workforce will be the key to our success – both today, and in the future.

We are looking for a Director of People to join us at a very exciting time as we continue to innovate, improve, transform and ultimately deliver the very highest standards of care to the service users and communities that we serve.   Working as a member of the Trust Executive; and with an approach rooted in collaboration and engagement, the appointed individual will lead the development of innovative People, Culture and Organisational Development strategies.  By working in partnership with staff across the organisation, this will be a role focussed on embedding Trust values and behaviours and encouraging creativity in order to facilitate the provision of modernised, service user focused services.

We are seeking an individual as passionate as we are about supporting and developing our people.  With experience of operating at Director level, you will bring strong organisational development expertise and a track record of having successfully delivered major organisational change projects within an environment of comparable complexity.  Strategic in approach, with a commitment to ensuring engagement and ownership at all levels of an organisation, your ability to give creative thought to ever evolving workforce challenges and inspire confidence among staff and our wider stakeholders will be key.  Above all else we are seeking an individual who will lead and develop our workforce in a way which actively and positively supports the Trust’s mission, values and commitment to putting our Service Users first.
