Natural England has a long-established role as the statutory deliverer and champion of nature, landscape and access. Right now, our work is undergoing a significant transformation, with the organisation right at the heart of delivering the Government’s 25 Year Environment Plan, which sets out an ambitious programme of changes to deliver a better environment for wildlife and people. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for an individual who wants to make a real difference to how our natural environment develops and contributes to the well-being of society and to sustainable economic growth.
It is also a particularly exciting time to join the organisation given the imminent arrival of our new Chair in Tony Juniper, as someone with a long-standing track record of campaigning for the environment.

The organisation is also under no illusions as to the demands being faced, with the growing pressures on our environment, the complex network of stakeholders and customers, budget challenges and we are demanding ever more flexibility and efficiency from our operations; this is a challenge that requires a resilient Chief Executive.
We are therefore looking for an inspirational leader that that can realise the potential of our geographically dispersed team, together with a track record of delivering transformational change to lead the organisation and ensure that we are at the heart of delivering the Government’s 25 year environment plan.
