Considerate Constructors Scheme
The construction industry has a huge impact on communities across the country, with most work taking place in sensitive locations. The Considerate Constructors Scheme promotes a Code of Practice which commits those sites, companies and suppliers registered with the Scheme, to care about appearance, respect the community, protect the environment, secure site safety and value their workforce. The Scheme is open to construction sites, companies and suppliers of all types and size and for every type of construction activity, with many construction companies and clients automatically registering all their work as company policy.
We are now seeking an exceptional Chief Executive to lead the organisation through the next exciting period of its development. You will work with the Scheme’s Chairman and Board to further develop, shape and deliver the strategy and business plan, maintaining the goodwill and support of members and the construction community and ensuring a proper balance between the Scheme’s public, professional, business and performance-related imperatives. This will include delivering a business plan which drives ongoing growth in participation in the Scheme, providing leadership and advocacy on behalf of the Scheme, its members and the wider construction industry and the delivery of sustainable organisational and cultural change.
An inspiring leader, with outstanding commercial skills, you will drive a culture of collaboration and high performance and a focus on the delivery of exceptional services to our members. You will bring the vision to identify new opportunities for growth for the Scheme, together with the demonstrable influencing skills to work effectively with our many varied stakeholders both within and outside the construction community. Outstanding communication skills and powerful credentials in motivating teams and influencing others to deliver business change are essential.
Whether you are a serving Chief Executive, or this is a career step, you will have a demonstrable track record operating at executive board level in a progressive organisation in the commercial, public, or membership body sector. You will demonstrate an interest in the built environment, together with an ability to quickly establish your credibility with our stakeholders. Previous experience in construction is not essential to the role. With a broad remit, this role requires the vision, innovation, creativity and drive to build the Considerate Constructors Scheme into a lean and modern professional company and to ensure that it continues to promote and support the construction industry and help its members engage with and thrive in a changing world.
