At Accent, we believe everyone should have a safe, secure and affordable place to call home. For 60 years, we have helped people build better futures through quality housing and services across England. Today, we provide affordable homes and services to more than 40,000 customers, with customer feedback at the heart of our decisions.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Assets and Compliance, with a direct relationship to the Chief Executive on organisational health and safety matters, you will act as Accent’s competent authority and lead its Health and Safety Strategy and management system. You will oversee occupational health and safety across the organisation, ensuring policies, procedures, inspections, incident management and reporting arrangements are robust and effective.

You will provide constructive challenge and an effective second line of assurance, working with senior leaders to ensure risks are understood, responsibilities are clear and appropriate controls are embedded. You will also oversee Accent’s facilities function, ensuring its offices provide a safe, consistent and positive experience for colleagues.

Leading a multidisciplinary team, you will set a clear direction, strengthen management information and reporting, oversee inspections and investigations, and build health and safety capability across Accent.

We are seeking a professionally qualified health and safety leader with a NEBOSH Diploma, or equivalent, and senior experience within a large, complex and multi-site organisation. You may come from housing or another regulated environment, and will bring experience of leading health and safety at an organisational level.

You will be a credible, independent and collaborative leader who can influence senior stakeholders, provide constructive challenge and translate technical requirements into practical action.
