Do you want to play a leading role in shaping a more sustainable future for the Liverpool City Region?

Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority is at the forefront of the transition towards a circular economy, helping to deliver ambitious environmental, economic and social outcomes for more than 1.5 million residents. Working with six constituent local authorities, private sector partners and regional stakeholders, we are driving forward our vision for Zero Waste 2040 and helping to create a cleaner, greener and more resource efficient future.

As we enter a significant new phase in our development, we are seeking an exceptional leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as Director of Strategy & Corporate Performance.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, this is one of the Authority's most influential leadership positions. Leading a broad portfolio spanning strategy and performance, business services, & data and intelligence, you will help shape the future direction of the organisation and ensure we have the capability, insight and ambition to deliver our long-term goals.

This is a particularly exciting moment to join us. Alongside the delivery of our Zero Waste Strategy, we are progressing a major programme of procurement and contract recommissioning that will influence waste and resource management across the Liverpool City Region for years to come. Working closely with elected Members, partners and senior colleagues, you will help translate ambition into action, strengthen strategic partnerships, drive organisational improvement and ensure the Authority remains at the forefront of an evolving policy and environmental landscape.

We are looking for a collaborative, politically astute and forward-thinking leader with experience of operating at a senior level within a complex organisation. Whether your background is in local government, the wider public sector, central government or a related sector, you will bring a track record of leading change, delivering strategy and building influential relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.

This is a rare opportunity to join an organisation with a clear purpose and ambitious vision, helping to shape how one of the UK's largest city regions responds to the environmental challenges and opportunities of the future.

Help us deliver Zero Waste 2040 and leave a lasting legacy for communities across the Liverpool City Region.
