Better Mental Health. Better Lives. Better Communities.

North London NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest and most ambitious mental health providers in the country.

Serving a diverse population of 1.8 million people across Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington, we employ around 6,000 staff and provide a comprehensive range of community, inpatient, specialist and forensic mental health services. Our annual turnover now exceeds £600 million and our ambition is clear: to improve the mental health of our communities through high quality, compassionate and equitable care.

We are now seeking an exceptional Chief Nursing & AHP Officer to join our Board and Executive Team.

We are looking for a highly experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse who combines professional credibility, strategic vision and visible leadership. You will be passionate about the future of mental health nursing and capable of inspiring, supporting and challenging our profession to achieve the very highest standards.

You will provide professional leadership for nursing and allied health professionals across the Trust, ensuring that quality, safety and patient experience remain at the centre of everything we do. You will strengthen the nursing voice within the organisation, champion excellent clinical standards and lead the continued development of a thriving nursing workforce.

The successful candidate will join us at a pivotal moment. As the national mental health landscape evolves, and with significant regulatory, policy and professional developments on the horizon, we require a leader who can navigate complexity, build confidence, drive improvement and ensure nursing remains at the forefront of delivery and transformation.

We are particularly interested in leaders who can:

  • Bring substantial Board-level nursing leadership experience.
  • Demonstrate an outstanding track record within mental health services.
  • Lead with authenticity, compassion and courage.
  • Strengthen nursing standards, professional accountability and clinical governance.
  • Inspire confidence across staff, service users, regulators and partners.
  • Build strong relationships across North London, NHS England and the wider mental health system.
  • Champion inclusion, equality and opportunities for professional growth.

This is a rare opportunity to shape mental health provision within one of England's most significant mental health organisations and help define the future of care for communities across North London.
