Help shape the future of social housing in South Manchester.

This is a unique opportunity to join the Board of a new organisation being created through the merger of Southway and Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG). Bringing together two highly regarded, community-focused housing providers, the new organisation will own and manage more than 20,500 homes, becoming the largest housing provider in Greater Manchester.

With a shared commitment to residents, communities and neighbourhoods, the merger will create a stronger, more resilient organisation with the scale, capacity and financial strength to deliver even greater social impact. Guided by the principle of ‘Large and Local’, the new organisation will combine the benefits of scale with a deep understanding of the communities it serves. This is an opportunity to positively impact a significant new housing provider from the very beginning.

We are seeking three Board Members who can bring expertise and strategic insight in the following areas:

  • Finance: A professionally qualified accountant (CCAB or CIMA) with executive-level leadership experience gained within a regulated environment.
  • People & Culture: A senior leader with expertise in people strategy, organisational change and transformation. Experience may have been gained in any sector.
  • Technology: A senior technology leader from customer-facing or consumer-focused organisations with experience at CIO, CTO or equivalent level, bringing expertise in digital transformation, enhanced customer experience, cyber security, AI and technology governance.

For all roles, previous non-executive experience is welcomed but not essential. We are particularly interested in individuals who can demonstrate strategic leadership, sound judgement and the ability to contribute effectively at board level. For the Finance and People & Culture appointments, there may be an opportunity to chair a committee in the future. The Technology Board Member is expected to join the Customer Experience Committee.
