Kirklees Council is seeking an exceptional Board Member to join Homes and Neighbourhoods Improvement Board supporting our Cabinet in the effective governance of the Homes and Neighbourhoods service. 

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a local authority housing provider with a clear purpose - working alongside an experienced Board and committed Senior Leadership Team ensuring we meet our legislative and regulatory responsibilities and deliver the best possible outcomes for our tenants and communities.

Together, we manage more than 21,500 homes. Your expertise and experience will guide us through a time of change. You’ll play a key role in shaping and providing high-quality services that not only meet but exceed our tenants’ expectations, ensuring our compliance with regulatory standards. Over the next decade, we are committed to an ambitious expansion of council housing stock in Kirklees, bringing even more homes to our communities. This position offers you a chance to make a meaningful difference - helping us build safe, supportive environments where individuals and families can flourish.

We are particularly interested to talk to people who possess the following skills;

  • Understanding of the requirements of the Regulator of Social Housing and how they apply to Local Authorities.
  • Knowledge of building safety and key accountabilities both to the Regulator of Social Housing and Building Safety Regulator.
  • Expertise in housing management, particularly in the application of tenancy matters.
  • Expertise in neighbourhood management.

Time commitment  - The Board meet monthly in person and time committment is up to two hours reading and two hours meeting in person.
