Housing Plus Group was formed in January 2025 through the merger of two established housing organisations, bringing together scale, capability and ambition in service of customers and communities. As a newly combined Group, Housing Plus is now moving beyond the transactional phase of merger into a period of consolidation, integration and improvement. This next stage is about creating clarity, simplicity and confidence in how the organisation is governed, assured and supported to deliver. Over the past year, Housing Plus Group has made strong early progress following its merger, strengthening governance arrangements and beginning to bring together ways of working across the new organisation. At the same time, the Group is managing change at pace while setting clear ambitions for future growth and delivery.

This marks a pivotal moment for governance at Housing Plus Group. While strong foundations are in place, there remains a genuine opportunity to shape and embed a fit‑for‑future approach. The Group is therefore seeking a Director of Governance who is motivated by the chance to design, influence and mature governance arrangements, rather than step into a fully formed model. Operating at the heart of the organisation, the Director of Governance will provide strategic leadership for governance and company secretarial activity across the Group. Working closely with the Chair, Board, Chief Executive and Executive Team, the role will support high‑quality advice, decision‑making and assurance through a pragmatic, proportionate approach. Combining governance expertise with sound judgement and influence, the Director of Governance will provide constructive challenge and clear guidance that enables effective leadership as the organisation continues to evolve.

Housing Plus Group is keen to hear from candidates with experience in housing or other complex, highly regulated environments. You will be comfortable operating at board and executive level, likely from a Company Secretary or senior governance leadership background, with the confidence to navigate regulation, group structures and diverse stakeholder relationships. You will bring a pragmatic, proportionate approach, combining diplomacy with the ability to challenge constructively. Alongside strong technical expertise, you will demonstrate visible leadership, credibility and calm, leading through influence, setting clear standards and providing assurance across complex issues.

This is a rare opportunity to shape governance in an organisation still in formation. Ambitious, customer‑focused and growth‑oriented, Housing Plus Group recognises the importance of effective governance that enables delivery both now and into the future. The role offers genuine influence and the chance to embed governance that supports sustainable success.
