Housing Gateway, a wholly owned subsidiary of Enfield Council, is seeking a dynamic Non-Executive Director to join our Board. Established in 2014, Housing Gateway is responsible for the acquisition and management of a diverse property portfolio providing both private rented and temporary accommodation homes.

With a portfolio of over 1,500 homes and a turnover approaching £30m, we play a critical role in supporting the Council to meet its statutory homelessness duties. We are committed to increasing the supply of high-quality, value-for-money housing, while reducing reliance on costly temporary accommodation and delivering sustainable financial returns to our shareholder.

As our new Non-Executive Director, you will work as part of the Board to provide leadership, strategic direction, and constructive challenge. You will help guide the company through a complex and evolving housing market, ensuring Housing Gateway remains commercially robust while continuing to deliver strong outcomes for residents and the shareholder.

You will play a key role in shaping strategy and scrutinising performance, supporting the effective management and optimisation of our property portfolio. Identifying and managing risk, ensuring strong governance, and maintaining a financially sustainable business model will be central to your contribution. You will also support the company in responding proactively to market pressures and upcoming regulatory changes, including the Renters Rights Act.

There is now an opportunity for an exceptional professional with significant private sector housing experience to join our Board. We are particularly interested in individuals who bring insight into the private rented sector, residential property markets, and the dynamics of supply, demand, and investment in London and the South East. Your perspective will be critical as Housing Gateway continues to operate at the interface between the public sector and the private housing market, developing innovative and flexible housing solutions that meet the Council’s evolving needs.

We are seeking individuals who have experience working effectively at Board or senior strategic level in the private, public, or voluntary sector. You will be commercially astute, with a strong understanding of property and housing markets, and able to analyse complex information to provide clear, constructive challenge. Experience in areas such as residential development, asset management, investment, or large-scale landlord operations would be highly valuable. We value independent thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to balance commercial rigour with social purpose.

Joining Housing Gateway offers an opportunity to make a tangible difference to the lives of Enfield residents. You will be part of a collaborative and supportive Board, contributing to a well-established organisation that is entering its next phase of strategic development. With a clear focus on strengthening governance, improving efficiency, and delivering innovative housing solutions, Housing Gateway is well positioned to play a leading role in addressing housing challenges locally.

If you have a strong track record in the private housing sector and are excited by the opportunity to help shape the future of housing delivery in Enfield, we would be delighted to hear from you.
