Stonewater is one of the UK’s leading social housing providers. We manage around 40,000 homes for more than 93,000 customers and are financially strong, ambitious and values‑driven. With a long‑term A+ credit rating and a G1/V2 governance and viability rating, we are a major national provider with a clear social purpose and an expanding portfolio.

Stonewater has built nearly 10,000 homes since 2015 and has an ambition to continue a strong programme of development, averaging around 1,000 homes per annum, and for all existing homes to be at EPC C by 2030. We are now seeking to appoint additional Non‑Executive Board Members to strengthen our skills and insight at Board level.

We are particularly interested in candidates who bring senior‑level strategic experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Human Resources / People & Organisation – including organisational development, culture, workforce strategy, leadership, employee relations and change at scale
  • Assets & Development – including asset management, investment planning, building safety, sustainability, regeneration and residential development in a regulated environment
  • Governance - legal or professional governance experience to support our governance panel

As a Board Member, you will play a critical role in shaping Stonewater’s long‑term direction. You will contribute to the development and oversight of strategy, ensure strong governance and regulatory compliance, scrutinise organisational performance, and support the executive team through effective challenge and constructive debate. You will also act as an ambassador for Stonewater, building relationships with key stakeholders and upholding our reputation as a trusted, customer‑focused organisation.

We are looking for individuals who combine strategic insight, sound judgement and strong values. You will bring experience of operating at board or equivalent senior level, with the confidence to challenge appropriately, the ability to analyse complex information, and a clear commitment to balancing commercial discipline with social purpose. Just as importantly, you will share our belief that everyone should have the opportunity to have a place they can call home.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to one of the country’s most forward‑thinking housing organisations, at a time of significant challenge and opportunity for the sector, helping to deliver safe, high‑quality homes and thriving, sustainable communities for current and future generations.
