For almost 60 years, Hyde has provided affordable homes for people to help achieve our vision of a great home for everyone.  Partnerships with organisations that share our values and focus on customers is part of our long-term strategy to help us do more for our customers and to meet our founding social purpose.   Today we own and manage around 120,000 homes and provide neighbourhood services to around 350,000 homes across the country.  As we continue to deliver our long‑term strategic plan, we remain fully committed to building a truly modern, customer‑centric organisation that provides safe, reliable, energy‑efficient homes and high‑quality services that improve people’s life chances. Our focus is both forward‑looking and firmly grounded in our social purpose. We are now seeking an exceptional Chair of the Group Housing Services Committee (GHSC) to help us strengthen this mission.

The GHSC plays a vital role within Hyde’s governance, ensuring a laser‑sharp focus on customer experience, service performance and continuous improvement. The committee assesses how effectively Hyde listens to customers, understands their needs and uses insight to shape services. Its strength lies in the diversity of its membership, bringing together Hyde customers tenants, shared owners and leaseholders, with independent members whose professional expertise enriches scrutiny and decision‑making.

As Chair, you will provide clear strategic leadership, fostering balanced, informed and constructive challenge. You will champion the intelligent use of data, ensuring that performance information and customer feedback are translated into meaningful insight that drives improvement. A key priority will be supporting the evolution of Hyde’s services so they remain modern, efficient and digital where appropriate, while always accessible and inclusive for all. You will also ensure customer voice is clearly articulated at Board level and reflected in organisational priorities.

Alongside chairing the GHSC, you will contribute fully as a member of the Hyde Group Board. Operating within a complex and highly regulated environment, you will help shape organisational strategy and business decisions, bringing a strong customer lens to discussions while ensuring commercial considerations are balanced with Hyde’s social purpose. Your insight will support the Board in making decisions that are both financially robust and aligned with the needs of the customers and communities we serve. Through your leadership, you will help strengthen governance, reinforce accountability and ensure that Hyde’s customer focus remains central to its long‑term direction.

To succeed, you will be an experienced customer‑focused executive with a strong record in service transformation, customer strategy or operational leadership in a complex, regulated environment. You will be skilled at interpreting detailed performance information and drawing clear, evidence‑based conclusions. Your leadership style will be inclusive, confident and collaborative, enabling you to work effectively with members who bring both professional expertise and lived experience. Previous non‑executive experience, ideally in a similar operating context, is desirable.

Hyde is committed to governance that reflects the diversity of our customers and communities, and we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. We are a Disability Confident employer and will provide support, onboarding and mentoring for those stepping into their first committee chair role.
