Heather’s first day (and so far only day) in the GatenbySanderson office was Monday 16 March where, fortunately, she was able to collect a laptop and phone and briefly meet her team before our offices closed due to the current pandemic. Thankfully our systems and technology, ensuring that all our people can perform their role at home, has also enabled Heather’s induction process to run smoothly and even meet the team virtually for social catch ups too.
Her career has taken a number of turns to date, each one moving closer to her passion which is people. She started life as a Chartered Accountant working for a number of years in Audit, before moving into executive search and selection team, initially recruiting CFOs but then focusing on Board level recruitment, progressing to an Associate Director for another Executive Search organisation.
After studying for an MSc in Executive Coaching at Ashridge Business School, Heather’s focus for the last 10 years has been executive coaching and career transition work, as well as undertaking some executive recruitment, most recently for the Chair of the Katie Piper Foundation.
Heather was on the Coaching Panel for the Senior Civil Service for many years and has coached on two leadership programmes at the ICAEW. She is also an independent panel member for DCMS Board appointments and worked in partnership with the Whitehall and Industry Group co-presenting an NED workshop for many years. In her spare time, she is Chair of Governors at a high-performing girls’ independent school and Honorary Treasurer of the Guild of HR Professionals, an aspiring livery company.
Commenting on her move to GatenbySanderson, Heather said;
I am delighted to be joining GS at a time when talented leadership has never been more critical for the NfP sector. I hope to bring my experience and understanding of leadership behaviours and different cultural environments to bear on a sector about which I am passionate. High performing leaders and teams can truly be transformational, and I want to play my part in creating and developing those teams.
