Dr Emma French has recently been promoted into the role of Principal Consultant. Emma’s particular focus, drawing on her expertise in board appointments and board governance, will be on leadership roles in higher education. In this role she will be working closely with our Practice Lead, industry leader Julia Roberts.
Emma spent many years at leading international search firms focused on board and leadership roles across sector. Her client base consisted of organisations experiencing significant change and transformation, and she consistently and successfully identified leaders who met the unique requirements for those complex mandates. She then spent three years at Independent Board Evaluation, working with Ffion Hague conducting market-leading board evaluations for a FTSE 100 and 250 client base.
Since joining GS in early 2018, Emma has worked on some of the most senior leadership and Board positions across our business. These include the campaigns for the Chair of Mind, Chair of QAA, members of the Archbishops’ Council, the Chair and Trustees of Sons and Friends of the Clergy, Chief Executive of the Shaw Trust and the Chief Executive of the Student Loans Company.
Recently, Emma has been on secondment to our Board Practice, pursuing thought leadership projects on the demarcation between Chair and Chief Executive, and on succession planning within higher education.
