Celebrating Local Government Excellence at the LGC Awards

The LGC Awards once again proved why they are one of the most anticipated events in the local government calendar.

Held at the iconic Grosvenor House in London, the evening brought together over 1,400 professionals to celebrate the innovation, resilience, and leadership that define the public sector.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear this was more than just an awards ceremony, it was a powerful celebration of a sector that continues to deliver for communities across the UK, often in the face of immense challenges.

A Night of Recognition and Pride

We were proud to attend alongside a fantastic group of colleagues from GatenbySanderson: Neel Patel, Abi O’Brien, Phil Emms, Seb Lowe, Gary Evans, Becca Hopkin, Kembi Coakelin, and Camille Revuelta. Sharing the evening with such a passionate and committed team made the celebration even more meaningful.

Comedian Maisie Adam hosted the evening with humour and energy, keeping the room engaged and entertained. Her presence added a light-hearted touch to a night filled with heartfelt recognition and sector-wide pride.

Why the LGC Awards Matter

The LGC Awards are more than a celebration, they are a reminder of the critical role that local government plays in shaping communities. From housing and social care to climate action and economic development, local authorities are at the forefront of public service delivery.

Recognition at events like this fuels morale, builds momentum, and reinforces the value of public service, especially for senior leaders who often work behind the scenes to drive transformation.

Celebrating the Winners

A huge congratulations to all the finalists and winners. A special mention goes to Telford & Wrekin Council, named Council of the Year for their outstanding work and impact.

From digital innovation to community engagement, the breadth of talent on display was inspiring. These stories of success and transformation deserve to be amplified, not just within the sector, but to central government, investors, and the wider public.

Our Commitment to Local Government Leadership

At GatenbySanderson, we’ve worked alongside local authorities for over 20 years. We know that great leadership is the foundation of great public services. The LGC Awards reaffirmed our belief in the power of inclusive, values-driven leadership to shape the future of the sector.

We left the evening feeling proud, inspired, and more committed than ever to supporting the next generation of public sector leaders.
