Bringing the hospital to the patient, when seconds count.

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity (MAAC) is seeking a new Trustee to help shape the future of one of the UK’s leading pre-hospital emergency care charities. This is an opportunity to join a Board that oversees a service rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and play a vital role in ensuring we continue to deliver safe, innovative, and patient-focused care.

This is a pivotal role for an experienced leader from a CQC-regulated organisation, with deep knowledge of clinical governance and regulatory compliance. Your expertise will help shape our clinical strategy, ensure the highest standards of care, and support our mission to provide patients with outstanding pre-hospital care and life saving intervention at the scene of the incident when they need it most.

Our ambition is clear: to achieve the best outcomes for patients through enhanced pre-hospital critical care. We need a Trustee who can bring clinical governance expertise and strategic insight to support this mission - someone who understands regulation, embraces innovation, and has the confidence to ask the right questions.

The appointed Trustee will join our Board and will also become a member of the Clinical Standards Committee, with an expectation to assume the role of Committee Chair in due course as part of succession planning.

Your role will be pivotal in shaping clinical strategy, ensuring compliance, and championing innovation. You will help us navigate complexity, maintain excellence, and ensure our services evolve to meet patient needs - while upholding the values that define our charity.

This is a governance role that will provide you with the opportunity to make a tangible difference in a charity that saves lives every day. You will join a values-driven Board committed to collaboration, innovation, and impact.

About Midlands Air Ambulance Charity

When seconds matter, we are there. For more than three decades, we’ve delivered rapid, hospital-level care to the most critically ill and injured patients across six counties - Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, the West Midlands, and Worcestershire. MAAC is the largest air ambulance charity in England, serving a population of around seven million people over 5,200 square miles.

Every mission represents a life, a family, a future. Since 1991, we’ve undertaken more than 78,500 missions, attending an average of 4,000 incidents each year. Our highly skilled clinicians reach patients within ten minutes on average, bringing advanced interventions such as sedation, anaesthesia, complex surgical procedures, and blood transfusions - treatments that go far beyond the standard scope of NHS ambulance services. These hospital-level procedures delivered at the scene give patients the best possible chance of survival and recovery.

Our service operates three air ambulances by day and rapid response vehicles by night, ensuring 24/7 access to expert pre-hospital care. Alongside lifesaving missions, we invest in patient liaison, clinical training, and community education - from CPR and bleed control to specialist courses for healthcare professionals - building resilience and capability across the region.

Through innovation, clinical excellence, and strong governance, we continue to evolve our service to meet changing patient needs and rising demand.
