Ubico is a local authority‑owned environmental services company delivering high‑quality, cost‑effective and sustainable services across Gloucestershire, West Oxfordshire and as of August 2026, Wiltshire. Established to combine strong public‑service values with commercial discipline, Ubico supports its shareholder councils by keeping local spaces clean, green and well‑maintained for the communities they serve.

We are seeking an Independent Non‑Executive Director (INED) who will bring external expertise, sound judgement and strategic insight to our Board. This role offers the opportunity to influence the direction of a growing organisation that plays a vital role in keeping our communities clean, green and safe.

As an INED, you will provide independent scrutiny, support and assurance, helping review and challenge the development of Ubico’s strategy and ensuring our obligations to shareholders, employees and wider stakeholders are met. You will monitor performance, champion continuous improvement, and help ensure the company operates safely, legally, efficiently and sustainably. You will also play an active role in Board evaluations, governance development and maintaining a strong values‑driven culture that promotes equality, diversity and inclusion.

We are looking for candidates with senior leadership or Board‑level experience, strong strategic thinking, and the ability to analyse complex issues and offer constructive challenge. We welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds, but particularly those with expertise in digital, cyber, data, environmental operations, compliance, health and safety, procurement, or local government services.

The successful candidate will benefit from a dedicated handover period, initially joining the board as an observer alongside the outgoing postholder. This will provide invaluable insight into board dynamics, company operations, and the responsibilities of the role, ensuring a smooth and well-supported transition into this key leadership position.

We value diversity and so are keen to ensure our Board represents the communities we serve, and that we maintain a good balance of views, skills and experience on our Board.
