Ubico is a local authority‑owned environmental services company delivering high‑quality, cost‑effective and sustainable services across Gloucestershire, West Oxfordshire and as of August 2026, Wiltshire. Established to combine strong public‑service values with commercial discipline, Ubico supports its shareholder councils by keeping local spaces clean, green and well maintained for the communities they serve.

We are seeking an exceptional Independent Non‑Executive Director and Chair of the Board to provide strategic leadership, external expertise and high‑integrity governance. This is a pivotal role offering the opportunity to shape the direction of a growing organisation that plays a vital role in keeping our communities clean, green and safe.

As Chair, you will lead the Board with clarity and purpose—setting the agenda, ensuring effective decision‑making, and fostering an inclusive environment that supports constructive challenge and strong performance. You will demonstrate ethical leadership, promote the highest standards of corporate governance and ensure the Board focuses on strategy, culture, value creation and accountability. Alongside your INED duties, you will support and challenge the executive, oversee performance, and ensure Ubico meets its obligations to shareholders, employees and wider stakeholders while operating safely, legally, efficiently and sustainably.

We are looking for candidates with senior leadership or Board‑level experience, including a strong track record chairing boards or committees. You will bring strategic thinking, sound judgement and the ability to navigate complex issues, as well as personal credibility and an engaging, ambassadorial style. We welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and are particularly interested in those with expertise in digital, cyber, data, environmental operations, compliance, health and safety, procurement or local government services.

The successful candidate will benefit from a dedicated handover period, initially joining the board as an observer alongside the outgoing postholder. This will provide invaluable insight into board dynamics, company operations, and the responsibilities of the role, ensuring a smooth and well-supported transition into this key leadership position.

We value diversity and so are keen to ensure our Board represents the communities we serve, and that we maintain a good balance of views, skills and experience on our Board.
