Jersey has a strong and vibrant economy and the JCRA fulfils a number of vital functions, including the administration of competition law and the regulation of ports (air and sea), postal and telecommunications sectors. In addition, the JCRA provides guidance and advice to Government and business, and has a role in representing Jersey overseas.

In the field of competition law and across its regulated sectors, the JCRA’s core objective is to ensure that consumers receive the best value, choice and access to high quality services, while promoting competition and the interests of citizens, consumers and businesses. The JCRA must be capable of innovating and adapting to the needs of Jersey’s fast-moving and evolving economy.

You will join us at an important time as we seek to extend and maximise our impact, making good decisions for the economy and people of Jersey. Our strategy is attuned to market dynamics, so developing a strong understanding of what is happening in the jurisdiction will be important, along with your visibility, credibility and proportionate and pragmatic approach.

The role comprises three key responsibilities. First and foremost, it involves overseeing competition law and the regulation of key industry sectors. Secondly, it requires ensuring that a diverse range of stakeholders remain informed about legislative and legal developments, while ensuring respect for the JCRA’s role and authority. Finally, it calls for a Chair who can provide our talented Board and Executive with inspiring collaborative leadership and clear strategic guidance whilst maintaining strong governance.

This is an exciting time to lead the JCRA and we hope you will apply for this important and impactful role.
