Hartlepool is a vibrant and energetic Borough, home to beautiful natural assets alongside  exciting development and regeneration opportunities, creating jobs, building new homes and infrastructure, and investing in our communities to create places that our residents and visitors can be proud of. As an authority, we want to make Hartlepool thrive, and we seek dedicated and driven colleagues to help us achieve our goal.

Working within the newly created housing, communities and growth directorate, this new role, Assistant Director of Housing and Community, will be at the forefront of creating inclusive, resilient and thriving communities where people feel safe and have access to quality housing, meaningful opportunities and a strong sense of belonging. Working closely with partners in health, housing, the police, community groups and the voluntary sector, your strategic leadership will strengthen system and place based approaches that help address the challenges that many of our residents face. You will lead homelessness services, implementing preventative approaches and employing restorative practices, strengthen community engagement, enable those who are in need to access welfare support, and empower residents to access employment, skills and learning activities. Your vision and expertise will drive innovation in how we work with residents, provide housing management services for our retained stock and work closely with social housing providers in the region, as well as ensuring that the quality of housing available in the private sector meets expected standards.

We are seeking a values based leader, bringing a wealth of experience across housing and community services. You will have strong partnership and stakeholder management skills, able to work closely with a range of service providers within the council and externally to create an ecosystem in Hartlepool that is resident focused, strengths-based and which work together to address the challenges that people face. We may have challenges, but Hartlepool is a proud borough with many great opportunities in economic growth, cultural and leisure opportunities, and our communities have huge potential and it will be your role to help them thrive.
