Shape the future of Redbridge’s estate – and leave your mark.

Redbridge is a borough with ambition. We’re one of the fastest-growing places in the country, and we’re investing in the future of our communities, our services, and our places. With a newly recruited Director of Housing, a transformation agenda that’s gaining momentum, and a leadership team committed to doing things differently, this is a unique opportunity to shape the future of our estate and leave a lasting legacy.

This is an exciting new role created to lead the strategic direction of our property portfolio, capital delivery, and facilities management. This is a chance to take ownership of a complex and varied estate, including corporate buildings, commercial assets, leisure centres, and a housing stock of around 4,500 units. You’ll be responsible for developing our Asset Management Plan, overseeing investment decisions, and ensuring robust governance, compliance, and assurance across all property-related functions.

This is not a role for someone who wants to maintain the status quo. We’re breaking down cultural barriers, moving away from operational silos, and building a more strategic, commercially focused approach to asset management. You’ll need to roll up your sleeves, lead change with confidence, and bring clarity to an area full of potential.

You’ll work closely with elected Members, regulators, and delivery partners, and you’ll be a key voice in shaping our investment strategy. From leisure centres and commercial holdings to housing undergoing transformation, you’ll bring coherence to a portfolio that’s lacked strategic oversight. You’ll also play a key role in supporting our exit strategy from long-term consultancy reliance, helping us build internal resilience and capability.

About you

We’re looking for a commercially minded leader with strong political acumen, a track record of transformation, and the ability to hit the ground running. We’re open to candidates from other local authorities, or beyond, but you’ll need more than technical expertise.

You’ll be someone who thrives in complexity – able to balance operational grip with strategic foresight. You’ll bring a leadership style that’s collaborative, visible, and grounded in delivery. Whether your background is in local government, the NHS, or the commercial sector, you’ll understand how to navigate political environments, influence senior stakeholders, and lead cultural change. You’ll be confident shaping governance, driving assurance, and embedding a performance culture that delivers for residents and staff alike.

This is a high-impact role in a borough that’s ready to do things differently. If you’re looking for a challenge, and you want to make your mark in a place with ambition, complexity, and momentum – we’d love to hear from you.
