Hartlepool is a vibrant and energetic Borough, home to beautiful natural assets alongside  exciting development and regeneration opportunities, creating jobs, building new homes and infrastructure, and investing in our communities to create places that our residents and visitors can be proud of. As an authority, we want to make Hartlepool thrive, and we seek dedicated and driven colleagues to help us achieve our goal. Following an internal promotion, we are currently looking for an Assistant Director of Neighbourhoods who will provide strategic leadership and oversight of a core range of services that our residents are passionate about, and which shape the fabric of our borough every day.

We are investing significantly in Hartlepool and as Assistant Director you will lead our regeneration activities and capital programme, working closely with developers and investors to shape the future of our borough. You will provide strategic leadership across planning and building control, ensure our borough is clean, green and safe, that we maintain our highways and we investment in critical infrastructure,  and that we meet our climate change and sustainability objectives. These are highly-visible services that shape and define the physical environment of Hartlepool, as well as keep residents safe and instil a sense of pride in our place. Partnership working will be key across this large directorate, working closely with a range of service delivery colleagues internally, as well as engaging with stakeholders in the private sector and of course the Combined Authority.

We are looking for someone with strength in leadership to work closely with colleagues who are passionate about Hartlepool. A leader who will take people with them and instil a collaborative and engaging team dynamic. These are critical services for our elected Members, therefore we are looking for someone with strong political awareness and ability to build positive relationships with partners and stakeholders. Most important is a commitment to delivering for the residents of Hartlepool, and sharing our pride in the borough.
