Are you an experienced data governance and analytics leader looking to make a tangible impact in a purpose-driven, agile organisation?

UKROEd is seeking a hands-on and values-led Head of Data to shape and lead our organisation-wide data strategy, governance, and insight function. This is a pivotal role at the heart of our digital transformation journey, where you’ll ensure the integrity, security, and value of the data that underpins the National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme (NDORS) - a national road safety programme delivered in partnership with police forces and training providers across the UK.

Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer, you will oversee data governance, analytics and reporting, records management, and data protection across UKROEd and support related work within The Road Safety Trust (our parent charity). This is a rare opportunity to work closely with stakeholders from policing, government, and education to drive meaningful change - all from a flexible, home-based working environment.

About the Role

You will:

  • Lead and evolve our data strategy, information governance framework, and reporting capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection legislation (UK GDPR, DPA 2018) and manage sensitive data across our national systems.
  • Own and enhance our use of tools such as Power BI for performance reporting and insight.
  • Oversee improvements to SharePoint and drive best practice in records management across the organisation.
  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with key stakeholders, including police forces, oversight bodies and system partners.
  • Play a key role in the delivery of a new bespoke enterprise system (Project MApp), with a focus on data integration and insight.

We are seeking a candidate who can demonstrate:

  • Strong expertise in data governance, privacy, and security, with a practical, hands-on approach to applying frameworks and best practices.
  • Proficiency in business intelligence tools, such as Power BI, with the ability to extract, interpret, and communicate data insights effectively to a range of audiences.
  • Experience in managing and optimising SharePoint environments, alongside a solid understanding of records management principles and practices.
  • A strong understanding of risk management, particularly in the context of data handling, information governance, and digital systems, with the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks effectively.
  • A forward-thinking mindset, with the curiosity and initiative to explore emerging technologies and innovative approaches to data use, including AI and external data sources, to enhance organisational insight and impact.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, with a track record of working successfully across complex stakeholder environments.

This is a unique opportunity to join a small but nationally influential organisation whose work directly enhances the safety of road travel across the UK. Ideal for someone who thrives on building trusted relationships, driving meaningful change, and rolling up their sleeves to apply their expertise where it truly matters, this role offers an opportune platform for an emerging or established data leader ready to take the next step in their career.
