Every day, South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) provides vital healthcare assistance to thousands of people across Brighton & Hove, East Sussex, West Sussex, Kent, Surrey, and North East Hampshire. Our services span urban and rural communities, as well as some of the busiest motorways in the country.

Whether through our 999 emergency response, NHS 111, or our Emergency Contact Centre, we are committed to delivering the right care, at the right time, in the right place—every time. Our values underpin everything we do and guide how we care for our patients and support our people.

The last few years have brought unprecedented challenges to the ambulance service. As we continue to recover and transform, we are focused on strengthening leadership, culture, safety, and the delivery of urgent and emergency care services.

We are now seeking a new Non-Executive Director to join our Board and Chair our People Committee. This is a critical leadership role, providing strategic oversight and assurance on workforce matters, including culture, staff experience, organisational development, equality, diversity and inclusion, and people performance.

As an experienced HR professional, you will bring board-level experience in people leadership, organisational development, or workforce transformation—ideally gained in a complex, regulated environment. You will be passionate about improving the working lives of our people and committed to fostering a culture of inclusion, compassion, and continuous improvement.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of SECAmb and make a lasting impact on the communities we serve. You will be a strategic thinker with high personal integrity, and a collaborative approach to working within a unitary Board and across a complex health and care system.

We are committed to building a Board that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve and welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds, particularly those currently under-represented at Board level in the NHS.

Please note that NEDs are required to live in the catchment area of the Trust: Brighton and East Sussex, Kent and Medway, Surrey, West Sussex and parts of North East Hampshire. For more details, see https://www.secamb.nhs.uk/document/secamb-constitution-october-2024/
