The SIA exists to protect the public through effective regulation of the private security industry. We are a high performing regulator, working collaboratively with industry, enforcement agencies, Government, and the devolved administrations to raise standards across the security industry sector. We have an important role, contributing to public protection through the effective regulation of certain private security activities across the UK, licensing over 450,000 security personnel and raising standards of private security.

In this role, you will lead our compliance and inspection work concerned with non-compliance and criminal breaches of the Private Security Industry Act 2001. This will involve providing strategic leadership to the teams across the UK inspecting premises and venues deploying private security to check SIA licences, as well as the teams running criminal investigations into suspected unlicensed private security and related offences. You will also be responsible for leading organisational wide intelligence and reporting and triage centre teams; overseeing shared intelligence functions that will also support the introduction of Martyn’s Law when we mobilise in 2027.

With a track record of senior leadership and performance success in high-profile comparable organisations with national reach (government, private or public sectors), you will bring experience of leading and iteratively improving intelligence-led inspections and/or investigations teams in a complex criminal or other regulatory environment to sanction, deter and disrupt non-compliance and drive positive changes in sector/industry behaviours.

With strategic, organisational change, and operational capability, you will be an inspiring, visible leader, able to elicit outstanding performance internally, whilst influencing a broad range of external stakeholders to inform and promote positive and effective organisational and industry change with grip and pace, working collaboratively and collegially with peers, senior colleagues and front-line teams alike. Strong performance will play a key role in our organisational success, making a positive and tangible impact on public safety and protective security standards across the UK.

This is both an exceptional career opportunity and an exciting time to be part of the SIA, particularly as we prepare to become the independent regulator for Martyn’s Law. If you have the necessary skills, expertise, and experience, share our passion for making a real difference to public safety, and will embrace our values and culture, we look forward to hearing from you.
