Sheffield City Council is seeking a visionary and dynamic leader to shape the future of one of the UK’s most ambitious and inclusive cities. As our Director of Economic Development & Culture, you will play a pivotal role in delivering the Council’s strategic priorities, as outlined in the Council Plan 2024–2028 and the Economic Growth Plan 2025–2035.

This is a rare opportunity to lead the city’s economic and cultural transformation driving inward investment, business growth, and innovation while championing Sheffield’s vibrant cultural identity. You will be responsible for designing and delivering the city’s economic and skills strategy, promoting Sheffield as a destination for talent, creativity, and enterprise.

Working as part of the Corporate Leadership Team, you will collaborate across portfolios, government bodies, and regional partners to ensure Sheffield thrives as a fair, green, and growing city. You will lead major projects, shape investment decisions, and foster inclusive growth to deliver our mission to make Sheffield a thriving, inclusive city where everyone can live well and succeed benefits all communities.

We’re looking for a senior leader with a proven track record in economic development, regeneration, or cultural strategy within a complex organisation. You’ll bring strategic insight, financial acumen, and a passion for Sheffield’s people and places.
