NSPCC CEO, Peter Wanless, on maintaining essential services, motivation and rethinking fundraising

Peter Wanless joined the NSPCC as Chief Executive in 2013, having previously been CEO of the Big Lottery Fund. Peter has a background in government, where he was at the Department for Children, Schools and Families, where he established their Families Group. Before that he was director of School Performance and Reform. Peter also spent time at the Treasury, operating in a range of roles including head of private finance policy and principal private Secretary to three Cabinet ministers.

Here he talks to Partner Jo Thornton about his priorities in dealing with Covid-19 – from the immediate focus upon securing essential services for children and young people, such as Childline and the NSPCC helpline, to redeploying teams to services where additional support was needed and re-thinking fundraising.
