We are delighted to announce South Lanarkshire Council as the winner of our sponsored Innovation in Building Diversity & Inclusion Award at the MJ Achievement Awards 2022. Congratulations, also, to Worcestershire County Council, for their highly commended entry, and to all the other winners and commended on the night!
South Lanarkshire Council’s entry provided insight into the discrimination and disadvantage faced by the Gypsy/Traveller community. It highlighted how working together with the Local authority whilst respecting and appreciating cultural differences and ways of engagement supported self-advocacy, digital literacy, skill development, improved living conditions, broader engagement and reciprocal knowledge transfer and learning. This stood out as a real human story that can be mapped and replicated across different E&D areas promoting inclusion and social justice.
A big thank you to our judges, who spent a great amount of time thoroughly reading and discussing a record number of entries for this category; Mark Hodgkinson (Scope), Tony Osude (CIPD), Juliette Alban-Metcalfe (Real World Group) and Charlotte Croffie (GatenbySanderson).
