Pam Parkes, FCIPD, Director, Organisational Development & People, Essex County Council talks to GS about the change programme that has driven its people agenda, which, in turn, is now right at the heart of the corporate plan. From the outset, a clear intent to ensure that Essex CC became a people centred and learning organisation has shaped much of the strategy.
Pam talks us through how a strong focus upon creating the right conditions for people to collaborate, innovate and flourish has led to delivery of better solutions for residents. While revisiting the basics was the starting point, the leadership team were prepared to push the boundaries as far as they needed to. The pandemic, far from diverting them off course, provided the most challenging test bed for many of the new technology and solutions being delivered.
