The Interim Executive Director of Finance and Operations is responsible for the financial performance of the organisation as a non-ministerial government department, in accordance with Managing Public Money. The role holder will be accountable for providing assurance to the Chief Executive that statutory responsibilities are being discharged appropriately and that financial decision making is rigorous and robust.
This role is responsible for four strategically important corporate functions, Finance (including Commercial, Facilities and Health and Safety), People and HR, Regulatory Compliance and Public Facing Services, and Digital, Data and Technology.
You will guide these departments to ensure the effective delivery of a transparent and efficient finance and commercial function, which allows the organisation to operate within its financial settlement and provide value for money in all that they do.
The role will focus heavily on the stewardship of the above teams during a time of leadership change. You must be able to give a balanced view on not only the financial operations but the corporate functions equally. A background in regulation is not necessary but it would be beneficial to have treasury experience. The successful candidate will have previous experience of leading a range of broader corporate services beyond finance but will be a finance professional by way of training.
