Interim Director of Nursing – NHS Mental Health Foundation Trust – start: end of January, 2022 – 6 Months Duration – Full Time – VSM banding

We are seeking an Interim Director of Nursing for our client, an NHS Mental Health Foundation Trust. The role is to start at the end of January and the duration of the contract is expected to run for 6 months whilst the Trust hires the position substantively. This role has been banded at a VSM level, it will naturally sit inside IR35 and our client is open to either day rates or fixed term contracts. The role would require an on-site presence of 2-3 days a week, with the rest being conducted remotely.

The Job Role – The Executive Director of Nursing and AHPs will provide strategic direction for the nurses and allied health professionals workforce across the Trust. The post holder will hold Board-level responsibility for safeguarding children and adults and for infection prevention and control. The Executive Director of Nursing and AHPs is the professional advisor to the Trust board, Chief Executive and Executive Management Team on all nursing, allied health professionals and non-medical clinical matters. As such the post holder has a key role to play to ensure effective professional input to the definition and development of the Trust’s overall strategic vision and direction.

The Person – All candidates must be a registered nurse and have leadership experience from ideally an NHS mental health environment. The Trust is also open to considering those who come from an NHS community services background with some experience in mental health. Successful candidates must also have a detailed understanding of current challenges within the Nursing and AHP professions, as well as a good understanding of the regulatory framework e.g. CQC and associated Governance arrangements.
