Interim Director of Communications and Engagement - NHS ICS, 3-4 months, Band 9 Inside IR35, Hybrid working.

We are seeking an Interim Director of Communications and Engagement for our client, an NHS Integrated Care Systems (ICS). Ideally, suitable candidates will be able to start work by the end of November and able to undertake the Interim role for 3-4 months or longer (as they will be recruiting to the permanent role in the new year, there could also be the opportunity to go permanent if this was of interest to all parties).

The Job Role - This role will include but not be limited to:

  • Strategic communications and engagement support to the transition of around 1,000 people (from multiple CCGs and the ICS programme management team) to the new statutory Integrated Care System. This would be working alongside a senior HR/OD lead to lead the process
  • Support to the design of the future partnerships, communications, and engagement function in the new body - this is being co-designed with all staff in current roles and needs strong facilitation skills
  • Oversight of legal duties on engagement for service change (there is a service in the early stages of business case change)
  • Leadership and support to the ICS comms and engagement team (five people, two of these are matrix aligned) and also alongside the four heads of comms in the CCGs

The Person – Our client is ideally looking for candidates who have:

  • Professionals who have change/transition as well as director level experience on their CV would be most desirable
  • Experience of developing, implementing and managing an engagement strategy for complex, multi-faceted stakeholders
  • Influenced senior public sector and commercial leaders in organisations similar to our client
  • Experienced in defining, shaping and implementing a strategy or operating model through effective engagement with stakeholders which has resulted in directly impacting an organisations objectives

Terms and Conditions

This role is graded at a band 9 level, and it will sit inside IR35. Our client is looking for someone to undertake the role full time and you would be required to be on-site occasionally, but the position is offering hybrid working arrangements.
