A London Borough are seeking an Interim Programme Director for Strategic Reset,  The Programme Director to provide leadership, vision, and strategic direction on our Strategic Reset Programme, as we move out of the COVID crisis. The first 6 months being especially critical with the need to work at pace and with significant levels of innovation and you will need to ensure that the Reset Programme:

  • Is robustly structured with clear accountabilities, facilitating cross-cutting work
  • Considers the requirements of all strategic stakeholders
  • Delivers benefits for our residents and communities
  • Produces outstanding value from programme investment

Initially, the successful candidate will be required to develop and agree a detailed programme delivery structure that will deliver the council’s roadmap for change over the next 12-18 months. This will include consideration of the required interfaces with senior management and politicians, and how to ensure the council stays focused on the agreed outcomes and key metrics. Responsibility for the strands of work that make up the Reset Programme will be vested in different areas of the council.  The successful candidate will need to develop and shape strong partnerships with a range of senior stakeholders, working collaboratively and via matrix management. There will be regular engagement with Strategic Directors and Programme Leads, as well as relevant Cabinet Members.

The successful candidate must have previous experience of similar roles within the public sector (and ideally local government). You should be able to demonstrate leadership and relationship-building skills and provide evidence of successful outcome-focused programme delivery.  The post is inside IR35 and up to £650 per day for 6 months initially.
