A Northern City Council is looking to engage an experienced individual who has the skills and capability to lead the Council’s Highways service for an interim period of up to 6 months. A key duty of the role will be to drive improvements set out within the Highways Service Improvement Plan which has been produced arising from the Best Value Inspection of Liverpool City Council, provide senior leadership to an experienced team and act as the strategic lead delivering on a range of major highways projects. You will also be accountable for the operation of the Highways and Transportation function and all aspects relating to management of the highway and transport network and have a track record of effective partnership working, delivering across organisational and local authority boundaries. Other duties will include but not be limited to:
- Responsible for all functions within the Highways and Transportation area of the Regeneration and Economy Portfolio.
- Managing and overseeing delivery of major Transportation projects across the City of Liverpool.
- Providing leadership and direction in delivering specific actions contained within the Highways Improvement Plan arising from the Council’s Best Value Inspection Report.
- Provide effective leadership and clear direction for all staff within the Highways Division in a culture of continuous improvement and oversee the work of managers within the service.
