We are supporting a London Borough in the recruitment of an Interim Climate Change Programme Lead. The main purpose of this role will be to plan, develop and deliver the Council’s Climate Emergency response, in the form of an organisation wide action plan. We are looking for a strong balance between a practical programme manager and technical expertise in the field. Following London’s first independent Climate Emergency Commission, a set of ambitions recommendations were given to the Council in the Commission’s Call to Action. You will provide leadership, management and delivery of the Council’s response, contribute to the direction of the Council and build strategic, proactive relationships with senior officers and political members across the Council, as well as external partners and community organisations, to effectively implement the response to the Climate Emergency. You will be responsible for maximising external grant income and investment including revenue creation.
Key things we are looking for in the candidate:
- Strong track record of programme management and ability to bring together organisation wide strategy/action plans
- Expertise in the field of sustainability / climate change
- Experience within Local Government would be desirable
- An effective communicator who is able to communicate key messages to a wide audience including senior stakeholders
- Track record of bringing in external funding
