A County Council are seeking an exceptional interim Service Manager to lead the Libraries and Heritage service.  You will lead, develop and manage effectively and responsively, taking account of the views and aspirations of all stakeholders and  monitor strategic, policy and service developments, both inside and outside of the region, identifying ways in which these services should improve and develop and advise Council officers and elected members accordingly.  Other responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • To lead and coordinate business and financial planning processes for the these services, ensuring service plans and resources are properly matched and that performance against plans and standards is monitored and evaluated
  • To provide a strategic lead on policy and service development issues for these services, including new initiatives, partnership working, community involvement and all professional issues
  • To motivate, lead and develop the service’s respective Management Teams both individually and collectively
  • To act as cost centre manager for expenditure related to these responsibilities in accordance with corporate governance

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in change management.  Working closely with the Assistant Director, the role will drive forward on the development of a new vision for the service area including a Library and Heritage strategy. This role is inside IR35 c£500 for up to 7 months.  If you are interested please reply with a CV in Word format matching the criteria outlined on the attached job description by Tuesday 15th September 12pm
