The Assistant Director  will be required to lead the People and OD service jointly with the Assistant Director in Sutton and share resources according to the priorities of the Councils, to provide the highest standards of human resource management. This is an exciting and critical role to enable the council to deliver its strategic outcome and financial plan by creating the right ‘people’ conditions.  The role will take a lead in developing and driving the Council’s agendas through individual leadership and facilitating the senior leadership teams to determine the collective values, behaviours and performance to truly transform.  The role will focus on the strategic leadership, direction and Responsibilities of the role will include but not be limited to:

  • Provide professional leadership, vision and guidance to the Chief Executive, Leader, Cabinet Members, and the Council on all matters relating to the workforce
  • Provides strategic leadership on People Management and Organisational Development, fostering its key role in enabling the council to achieve their strategic outcomes
  • Provides strong strategic leadership and support to the Leadership Team, Portfolio Holders and Elected Members, ensuring they receive high quality advice to develop cutting edge people, OD, organisational design, and HRM practices to deliver organisational transformation and achieve strategic outcomes.
  • Provides leadership to create a progressive, cohesive and coherent impact within the Council for the full range of Human Resources strands (Customer Connect, Health and Safety, Diversity, Organisational Development, Learning and Development, Internal communication and staff involvement, diversity, resourcing, data and reward and recognition)

This role will be for 3 months whilst the permanent recruitment takes place, inside IR35 and day rate will be dependent on experience.
