Interim Service Manager – Mental Health for Inpatients (8b) – Competitive Day Rate

We are seeking an Interim Service Manager on behalf of our Client – an NHS Mental Health Provider organisation in the Yorkshire area who are currently looking for Interim support for 6 months whilst they recruit to the substantive post.

The Job Role – The Interim Service Manager will support the Assistant General Manager to deliver the Trust’s operational plan and strategic framework. The postholder will be responsible for the operational management of Mental Health services, ensuring effective and efficient use of allocated resources to provide a service organised around the needs of patients, their families and their carers. Duties will involve but not be limited to:

  • People and operational management – provide leadership for the Inpatients team and be accountable for the direct delivery of Inpatient Services
  • Deputising – for the Assistant General Manager and General Manager in their absence
  • Business Planning – Contributing to the Trust’s strategic agenda and business planning for the Inpatients department
  • Line Management - Coaching and inspiring other members of the team as relevant, recognising and acknowledging achievement and success whilst actively addressing poor performance as a line manager. Work closely with leaders, senior managers, clinicians and other members of the project team. Chair meetings where necessary.
  • Service User Engagement - Ensure successful engagement and consultation with service users and carers to support the development of services

 

NB: Services are delivered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Although the post holder will normally work office hours, there is a requirement to work outside of this to fulfil organisation needs.

 

The Person – The ideal candidate for this role will have experience of managing at a similar level and ideally from within a Mental Health Trust, however, candidates who are keen to move into the field of Mental Health who are currently General Managers with an Acute or Community Provider organisation will also be considered.  Additionally, interested applicants should be have solid people management experience, be an adept communicator and possess excellent leadership skills.

The role is required for 6 months+ pending recruitment to the permanent role.
