An aspirational borough with huge potential are looking for an Interim Director of Communications.  Having recently been through a massive shift in direction following both the newly elected Mayor and appointment of the Chief Executive, they are now starting a journey of transformation and improvement that will put people at the heart of everything we do and create opportunities for everyone.  In summary the post holder is required to lead on the following activities:

  • Leading and bringing together currently dispersed teams across policy, performance, research, data, communications, public affairs and the Mayor’s Office and potentially other teams.
  • Implementing the follow-on restructure of Communications following completion of the current service review and business case to deliver MTFS savings and a new approach. 
  • Developing and implementing new strategic approaches to equalities and partnerships.
  • Leading implementation of the  Democracy Commission recommendations from June 2020 and collaborating with colleagues in Resident Engagement & Participation and Inclusive Economy teams to develop the Council’s approach to co-production and participatory democracy.

The successful candidate will also work collaboratively with the community of the borough, The Mayor, Members, the Chief Executive, Corporate Directors, and internal and external stakeholders. We are looking for people who approach problems differently and aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo, this is an exciting time to be joining the Council and we are looking for people who can embrace this and help us move towards a great future for everyone.  This role is for 12 months and day rate or FTC rate is dependent upon experience.
