We are working with a London Council who are a diverse and an aspirational borough with huge potential.  Having recently been through a massive shift in direction following both the newly elected Mayor and appointment of the Chief Executive, they are now starting a journey of transformation and improvement that will put people at the heart of everything we do and create opportunities for everyone. They are seeking an Interim Director of Public Realm who will report in to the Corporate Director of Environment & Sustainable Transport. This post is required to provide strategic leadership on the approach to how street cleansing arrangements are organised within the borough and to raise the Council's recycling performance as part of the cross-council response to tackling the climate emergency; and also to input into planning for new long-term East London Waste Authority contracts.

The successful candidate will also work collaboratively with the community of borough, The Mayor, Members, the Chief Executive, Corporate Directors, and internal and external stakeholders. They are looking for people who approach problems differently and aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo, this is an exciting time to be working with the Council and we are looking for people who can embrace this and help them move towards a great future for everyone.

The roles will operate inside IR35, ideally on a fixed term contract.  The assignments are required for up to 12 months from 2nd March 2020 or sooner.
