Senior Category Manager

We currently have vacancies for Senior Category Managers – Construction and Property Services and IT Services.   which has arisen at an exciting time when our client is embarking on a series of significant Capital and IT projects together with maintaining its well-established and busy annual capital programme. Your role in this will be of critical importance, in this role your experience in managing a team will be essential and you will be responsible for a category team of 5, as well as an external project resource and you will work alongside two peers, reporting to the Assistant Director of Category Management and Sourcing. If successful your responsibility will include:

  • To manage Category Managers, including planning and prioritising individual and team workloads, and establishing and monitoring performance standards.
  • To carry out staff appraisals and ensure training requirements of team members are identified and met, appoint staff,  in conjunction with the Assistant Director. 
  • To provide an expert view on complex categories of spend with procurement plans for projects, some of which will be over 12 months in length.
  • To establish and maintain key relationships with internal and external users, suppliers and system providers.

This role would suit someone looking for a long term position and the salary is £60k-£62k dependent on experience.
