 Assistant Director Category Management and Sourcing

GatenbySanderson are seeking an Assistant Director Category Management and Sourcing.  The post is responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement process for all categories of procurement spend and to manage the quality of the procurement service provided to departmental stakeholders and suppliers for all contracts with an estimated spend of £10k or above. This position manages the Category Management and Procurement Operations teams to undertake procurement activity in line with Procurement Code, UK Public Contracts regulations and EU procurement law.  The AD is accountable for ensuring that the recommended procurement strategy for the category is followed in line with all relevant regulations, legislation, government directives and codes of compliance, to reduce risk of legal challenge, whilst maintaining the balance between high quality of goods, works and services procured and value for money.  Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • To provide an expert view on complex categories of spend and act as the procurement project adviser.
  • To work closely with the Data Management and Procurement Operations teams to ensure that all new contracts and supplier buying arrangements are communicated and master data is updated where applicable.
  • To act as the escalation point to resolve complex procurement or supplier relationship queries arising.
  • To identify and implement amendments to sourcing processes and Corporation procurement policy and standing orders, acting as a subject matter expert in procurement; to author user documentation, manuals, guidance notes, communications etc.

This post is for 18 months and will be a fixed term contract £80k per annum.
