Head of Parks and Leisure c£550

We are working with a London Borough to help recruit an interim Head of Parks and Leisure.  The main emphasis of the role will be on managing the direct operations including implementing the contracts, repairs & maintenance and managing the associated teams.  The borough has a large recreational area with over 800 acres of parks and green spaces and this role will include operational responsibility for the depots that maintain them.  The post holder will lead, manage, review and develop sports and leisure in the borough, developing service delivery to meet the needs of the borough’s community. This will include working in partnership with a range of public, private and voluntary organisations to demonstrably improve the offer and performance of sport and leisure activities in the borough and ensure a smooth effective running operation.  Duties will include but not be limited to:

  1. Developing and implementing strategies, policies, management plans and action plans relating to the parks, trees, sports and leisure services.
  2. Manage the Council’s grounds maintenance DSO to maintain open spaces, including cemeteries, in accordance with the agreed specification.
  3. Produce, implement, monitor and review statutory and strategic operational policies and plans.
  4. Maximise and manage the use of volunteering programmes to contribute to effective management.

The position will be for 6 months inside IR35 and the closing date is 4pm on Thursday 25th October 2018
